Ahimsa Update
June 1st, 2008- a research contract with MaxFlex Productions for their BC Film sponsored Digital Readiness Plan
- a new partnership with Raincity Studios through the creation of The Green Screen (our first digital community-based property whose concept was built as a part of Phase 2 of the CBC’s Digital Development Lab)
- the inaugural Bridging Media, an initiative designed to open the channels of communication between the broadcast and digital media communities, and the beginning of a partnership with Megan Cole, whom we adore working with
Most recently, this has result in a new outlook towards the projects we are developing and has included a few newly developed ideas on our slate including:
- The Krazy KIDchen - an interactive webspace where kids can have fun with cooking, science, math and literature whilst tuning into our webisodes
- The Fugglies - An animated series inspired by the designs of Salty Bean’s Jen Hong and her daughter Morgan, that will be accompanied by a series of picture books
To market these properties, I will be attending nextMEDIA and the Banff World Television Festival next week as a recipient of the Telefilm Fellowship.nextMEDIA and the Banff World Television Festival also represents Meg’s and my next step for Bridging Media, as along with Kris Krug of Raincity Studios and Kevin Fraser (our story editor for The Magic Backpack) we will be helping Achilles Media take both festivals official news online in an interactive community with nextMEDIA TV and the Banff Daily Online. The technology to do this has been built and put in place by Boris Mann of Raincity Studios. As a part of this we will be a roving team of new media reporters and digital media educators at both festivals. Find us to share your stories or get into our flickr photos or video podcasts. Or better yet contribute to our festival streams by tagging your blog posts, video and flickr photos with:
- nm08
- nextmedia
- bwtf08
- banfftvfest.
For more details on how to do this most effectively, check out our post “NEXT stop BANFF” on the Bridging Media site.
One of the many things we have discovered as we have immersed ourselves into the digital media realm is that this blog is not properly set-up, which is likely why we have never really got into blogging here. So after Banff, we will be moving our site and our blog and you will be seeing some changes, especially to this blog. In the mean time, our attention and blood, sweat and tears are needed elsewhere, so we will mainly be posting the festival coverage to the Bridging Media site.
Warm wishes,
Erica
